Bellegrace's Blue Timber Wolf, HIC, HCT1, CGC, TDI (aka Wolf)
We drove up to BelleGrace Shiloh Shepherds in Pennsylvania to visit with "Blue Collar Boy", a 12 week old smooth coat Shiloh pup who was looking for his forever home. It was love at first sight, and we couldn't leave without him. As a pup he was fun- loving, energetic, independent, curious, smart as a whip and full of beans (still is!). I'd never classify him as a "couch potato", but when we're inside he's happy to plop down and take a rest, always willing to do what the family is doing. Every evening he comes to get some extra loving from John, and they both play a special game together that Wolf made up. He has matured into an amazingly smart and loving boy, who daily makes us laugh and keeps us on our toes. His temperament as a pup tested out as a solid medium, and I would say that he continues to be a medium. Wolf loves to watch over our property and keep it free from deer, pesky woodchucks and the occasional fox. He will chase a low-flying buzzard all around our acreage, and I think the buzzard enjoys it as much as Wolf does! Wolf is very athletic, and loves to show how high he can jump to catch his ball. His favorite activity is playing "chuck it" with a tennis ball--- the first dog I've ever owned who would actually fetch--- but the thing he loves most is to be with us. He is diligently protective of the yard and house --- to him, this is his job. When we take him to various shows, parks, Pet Expos or picnics, Wolf sweetly accepts petting and loving and will usually give you a kiss if you ask. He is the more serious of our Shilohs, but he can also be a big, silly goofball when the mood strikes him. He enjoys going to dog shows and Pet Expos, because he's the center of attention and gets lots of pets, treats and hugs. Most folks comment that he's the biggest German Shepherd they've ever seen, and that gives us a chance to tell them about Shiloh Shepherds. Wolf is a smooth coat Shiloh , and although his coat is thick and beautiful, it is very easy to care for (of course all Shilohs do shed and shed he does!). A quick brushing a couple times a week and off you go! Wolf is very smart, and loves a challenge. He has taken agility classes and herding, as well as Beginners, Basic and Intermediate obedience. He does very well in the Rally-O courses we occasionally take him through, even though he hasn't had training in it. He has earned his HIC and HCT1 in herding, his CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and his TDI (Therapy Dog International). Wolf is our constant companion and protector, and is always looking out for us. He has shown much patience and affection toward his little "sister" Lady, and has taught the new puppy respect and manners. He takes seriously the job of helping to teach them to become good Shiloh citizens. Wolf is a strong, solid Shiloh, and he can run like the wind!
